In a video on the Mexican consulate in Calexico’s Instagram, members of Mexico’s foreign relations department warn of the dangers of crossing in the desert — extreme temperatures, sparsely populated areas and deadly wildlife like mountain lions and rattlesnakes.
Some years, hundreds of migrants die in the desert in Arizona from extreme heat.
This year, the number of migrants attempting to cross the Mexico-U.S. border has plummeted after the start of the second Trump administration.
