The historic Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim was perhaps the best known casualty of the Dragon Bravo Fire. But nearly half of all structures along the rim were affected.

A BAER team assessment revealed one of Arizona’s largest wildfires did incredible damage or destroyed 106 structures along the Grand Canyon’s North Rim, including the lodge and a wastewater treatment plant.

Fire officials say nearly 700 personnel continue to work on the blaze, which is about 80% contained. Fire weakened and hazardous trees are being removed along several roads.

Localized flash flooding and debris flow is possible if monsoon storms persist over the burn scar, though it’s deemed unlikely. The bigger threat, officials say, is lightning and wind gusts.
