The Justice Department is charging 26 alleged members of the Sinaloa cartel. Some are receiving charges related to terrorism.

The indictment against the individuals in federal court in southern Illinois charges all of the individuals with drug-trafficking related charges.

Two of the people named in the indictment, both said to be Mexican nationals, also face terrorism related charges.

The Trump administration earlier this year designated the Sinaloa cartel, and other Mexico-based drug cartels, as foreign terrorist organizations — opening up additional possible charges for federal prosecutors.
