A Tucson activist that was arrested by Israel last week has been released and sent to Jordan.

Logan Hollarsmith was taken into custody by Israeli forces while captaining a boat full of mostly U.S. military veterans.

The boat was one of at least 44 that were part of the Global Samud Flotilla — which set sail from Barcelona and Genoa in August with the aim of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea.

Hollarsmith and the rest of his crew were some of at least 450 participants taken into custody last week, when Israeli forces intercepted the flotilla at sea.

In a post on X Tuesday morning, Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego said he’d learned from United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee that Hollarsmith and all other Americans arrested had been released from Israeli custody and were in Jordan.

Originally from San Francisco, Hollarsmith is a carpenter who lives in Tucson and has worked with advocacy efforts along the U.S.-Mexico border; with the group No More Deaths; and with Tucson’s Outlaw Project, which focuses on building rent-free tiny homes for transgender women of color.

Tucson advocacy groups and Hollarsmith’s family have spent the last several days calling for his release. He was one of about 21 Americans arrested while taking part of the flotilla, according to participants’ lawyers and families.
