Two weeks after a deadly flood hit the city of Globe, residents are gearing up for more rain this weekend.
Thunderstorms are expected in the area at least through Saturday night and additional showers are likely through Monday. The forecast has left residents trying to prevent a repeat of Sept. 26 when rising waters destroyed local businesses and swept away cars and propane tanks.
Cande Foster is a longtime Globe resident. She said earlier this week, her son joined other high school students as they filled up sandbags to distribute around town.

“The last time I talked to someone they said they had made over 2,000 sand bags and then that they were also delivering them anywhere that needed ‘em or if somebody contacted and requested ‘em," Foster said.
“Everyone’s just come together as like a big team. I know they’re cleaning out creek beds, trying to get all of the debris out of the way just trying to make it safe just in case we do get flooded again, so it’s not hopefully as bad as the last one," she added.
Globe had some light rain Thursday night, but nothing heavy. Foster said her neighbors and local businesses are still cleaning up from the last flood.
