Authorities in Mexico have arrested a suspect accused of abandoning the scene after a passenger bus he was driving flipped, killing seven and leaving more than 20 people injured.
The victims of the crash on the popular passenger bus line Tufesa included children. The bus rolled over in Sonora, on the highway between Hermosillo and Guaymas, in the early hours of last Friday.
Now, Sinaloan authorities say they have arrested a suspect in the city of Guamúchil, Sinaloa, miles from where the crash took place. Sinaloan prosecutors allege the person they arrested and another driver abandoned the bus after the accident, leaving behind more than 30 passengers.
The passenger bus had left the city of Culiacán, in Sinaloa, and was bound for Nogales, Sonora. The bus line said in a statement on social media it has been cooperating with authorities after the accident.
