Protesters in Mexico again shut down the Mariposa border crossing in Nogales on Wednesday. They say the Mexican government hasn’t met their demands related to security and better prices for farmers.

The farmers and truckers blockaded the highway to the often-busy Mariposa border crossing into Arizona for the third day this week.

Members of a variety of organizations and unions representing those workers have a wide range of demands of the Mexican government — including roads that are safer from cartel violence and better prices for their products.

In a statement, the Mexican government asked protesters to sit down with them to come to an agreement. But groups say the government isn’t listening to their demands.

Protesters allowed trucks to cross for a few hours earlier this week.

The urban border crossing in Nogales, DeConcini, has remained open. Protesters also shut down the Lukeville-Sonoyta border crossing for several hours earlier this week.
