Liza Womack has never been to The Rock, nor has she visited Tucson from her home in New York. But she felt a gut punch when she heard that a new housing complex might replace the long-time music venue in midtown.
It’s where her son Gustav Åhr, known as the rapper and singer Lil Peep, accidentally overdosed and died eight years ago at the age of 21 before he was set to perform. Today, fans still visit and tend to a memorial dedicated to him outside, along Park Avenue.
