North Country Healthcare, which operates in 11 Northern Arizona communities, has declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
North Country started in the 1990s, with the opening of a free community clinic in Flagstaff. Now the network stretches from Lake Havasu City to Holbrook.
Court records say the struggles that led to bankruptcy began in January 2024.
North Country is reportedly carrying a $1.5 million pharmaceutical debt.
Court records say there is an agreement for Tucson’s El Rio Health to acquire North Country, and continue services.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports that North Country’s Bullhead City clinic is closing.
