The FBI says a suspect on its Top 10 Most Wanted list has been captured in Mexico.
Alejandro Rosales Castillo is charged with a 2016 murder of a 23-year-old woman in North Carolina. The FBI says he was seen crossing the border into Mexico from Nogales, Arizona, nearly 10 years ago, a day before the discovery of the victim’s body.
Rosales Castillo is now detained in Mexico City pending extradition proceedings after his capture in the Mexican state of Hidalgo, northeast of Mexico City.
In a statement from the FBI, the bureau says its Law Enforcement Attaché Office in Mexico City coordinated with Interpol as well as Mexico’s security and citizen protection agency to capture the suspect.
