ICE detention center planned for Marana, DHS documents say

Department of Homeland Security documents published this week reveal new details about a possible ICE detention facility in the Town of Marana.

An 86-page Performance Work Statement — published on a federal government database — describes a facility that would incarcerate “approximately 513 male detainees.” Another note on the database, however, says the facility “must have a capacity of up to 775 detainees.”

In a statement to AZPM, the town of Marana said officials had recently learned of the potential contract between DHS and Management & Training Corporation — a private, Utah-based contractor that operates detention facilities in several other states.
