The Grand Canyon National Park is opening its North Rim to visitors starting May 15. But there will be restrictions.

The North Rim has been recovering from the Dragon Bravo fire that devastated the area in 2025.

Though the park will be open to visitors, overnight lodging at the North Rim will not be available this year. But the Cottonwood Campground will be open.

The entire North Kaibab Trail will reopen to only foot traffic — the use of mules or horses is suspended. Officials say hikers should expect temporary closures or delays as repairs continue.

All paved roadways within the park will reopen, though parking at the North Kaibab trailhead will be limited.

Overflow parking will be adjacent to the former Grand Canyon Lodge, which burned down in the fire.
