Sonora is still cleaning up the damage of Tropical Storm Polo after the downgraded hurricane touched down in the Mexican state south of Arizona this week.
Communities in southern Sonora continue to be affected by flooding from Polo, two days after the storm touched down after sweeping over the Baja peninsula and Gulf of California.
A collapsed bridge left the community of Suaqui Grande, southeast of the state capital of Hermosillo, largely unreachable. Local media reported this and less than a dozen other communities in Sonora remained hard to access Thursday due to flooded roadways.
State authorities said they are continuing to bring fresh drinking water to affected areas and are working to restore damaged and washed out roads and bridges.
