Gaming contributions to the state by tribes in Arizona hit nearly $45 million in the most recent quarter.

Officials say it's a nearly 6% increase from a year ago.

The money is used to pay for education, emergency services, tourism, wildlife conservation and operating the state Gaming Department.

Tribes also contribute gaming money to local governments of their choosing.
