The U.S. House has approved funding for healthcare services for Native American veterans. Arizona Reps. Greg Stanton, a Democrat, and Eli Crane, a Republican, co-led the effort to secure $5 million dollars for mobile medical units.

Stanton said Sunday in a social media post that some Native American vets have had to travel four hours each way to access services at the VA.

“That bill for $5 million would have great opportunities for mobile units to go directly out to the tribal communities,” he explained.

Stanton said the mobile units will also address gaps in culturally competent health care for Native American veterans.
