Friday, July 19 is the final day Arizona voters can request an early ballot for the state primary election.

Do I need to request a ballot?

Voters who are registered Democrats or Republicans and are on the Active Early Voting List will automatically receive their party's ballot by mail. Ballots began being sent on July 3. Ballot status can be tracked online or via text message at https://elections.maricopa.gov/voting/track-your-ballot.html.

Maricopa County voters who are not registered with a party need to request a Democratic or Republican ballot if they would like to vote by mail in the primary. Submit the request online at https://recorder.maricopa.gov/Elections/EarlyVotingBallot/earlyvotingballotrequest.aspx.

For questions, contact the Maricopa County Recorder's Office at 602-506-1511.

Security for Maricopa County elections

Full transparency surrounding the voting process has been a priority for the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.

Maricopa County has been the target of conspiracy theorists surrounding the 2020 and 2022 elections leading to threats of violence against the recorder and other county officials.

Although a state audit found no evidence of wrongdoing, the county is promoting its security procedures. That includes tours, live streams and 24/7 surveillance of where the ballots are verified.

"You know, we all have political jerseys, but we really do take them off in this office," said Taylor Kinnerup, communications director for the Maricopa County Recorder. "That is the intention of making sure that anybody who wants to vote knows how they can and knows their options.”

Voters are recommended to mail in their early ballot by July 23. Early ballots can also be brought to a voting center or placed in drop boxes around metro Phoenix.
