Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that her office has issued a demand letter to the owners of the Buenas on 32nd apartment complex in Phoenix, requiring them to immediately fix the air conditioning in hundreds of units.

Reporting by Arizona’s Family revealed that residents in 400 units at the complex near 32nd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix have been without proper AC for more than a month of one of the hottest summers on record.

In the letter, Mayes’ office cited heat-related health concerns and warned the LLC that owns the complex of potentially breaking consumer fraud laws, state and city codes.

Buenas Communities must repair the air conditioning by the end of this week, and confirm compliance by the following Monday.

The AG's office said it’s prepared to take further legal action if necessary.
