Higher summer heat means fewer drivers on the streets, which is keeping fuel prices low.
Arizona’s average gas price per gallon sits at $3.47, which is 5 cents below the national average of $3.52. Julian Paredes with AAA points to the high heat and declining oil prices as likely reasons for lower cost of gas.
"Demand for gas is still pretty low across the country, and oil prices have actually gone down a little bit too," Paredes said. "There’s actually not too much pressure on the gas prices right now."
Coconino County has Arizona’s most expensive gas at $3.64 a gallon, while La Paz County has the cheapest at $3.37.
