The latest round of vouchers from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to help reduce homelessness among young people involved with child welfare services are out.
Housing agencies in 19 states will receive over $3 million worth of assistance through the 2019 Foster Youth to Independence Initiative, and Glendale is one of them.
The city received roughly $140,000 worth of vouchers. And the funds will help connect local 18- to 24-year-olds who are at risk of becoming — or already are — homeless with housing assistance, either after they’ve already left foster care or within 90 days.
