Hamadeh or Masters? Trump endorses two candidates in Arizona congressional race

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump endorsed two of the candidates running for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District. In a post on Truth Social, he announced Abe Hamadeh and Blake Masters have his support for the seat.

The announcement puts an end to the discrepancy over Trump and his running mate JD Vance backing different candidates. Trump originally endorsed Hamadeh while Vance backed Masters.

The winner of the race will replace outgoing Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko, who is now running for a seat on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

In the 2022 election, Hamadeh ran for Attorney General while Masters ran for the U.S. senate seat. While Masters conceded his race to Sen. Mark Kelly, Abe Hamadeh challenged his race in court.

The other Republican candidates vying for the position in the 8th District are Patrick Briody, state Sen. Anthony Kern, former Congressman Trent Franks and Arizona House Speaker Ben Toma.
