After a hiker fell to his death earlier this week, the body of another visitor to Grand Canyon National Park was recovered Friday morning.
According to a park statement, the man attempted a so-called BASE jump from Yavapai Point on the Canyon’s South Rim early Thursday morning.
BASE jumping typically involves parachuting from fixed objects, and is illegal in all areas of the park. Rangers found his body about 500 feet below the rim, with a parachute deployed.
It was the 10th fatality at the Grand Canyon this year.
