The city of Tucson is receiving $2,995,448 to expand its Jacobs Park off Prince Road. The money comes as a part of a federal package improving parks around the country.

The city plans to pay for a softball complex, skate park, two soccer fields and pickleball courts with the money.

More than 300 trees will be added, along with a family use area with a playground, grill area and concessions building.

The U.S. Department of Interior is providing the $47million to improve 10 parks nationwide through the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program.

Other states receiving money include California, Iowa, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas.

Officials didn't provide a timeline for when the improvements with be added.
