A 20-year-old hiker from New Mexico is at least the 11th person to die within Grand Canyon National Park this year.

Officials recovered the body of Albuquerque resident Leticia Castillo after searching for her for several days. They believed she entered the park last week. Her body was found Tuesday below the Twin Overlooks along Desert View Drive, about 150 feet below the rim.

The park sees an average of 10-15 deaths every year.

"However the fact that we’re already at 11 and it’s only the beginning of August is a little bit higher than usual," said park spokesperson Joelle Baird.

Rescuers have recovered three bodies since July 31. A base jumper was recovered last week. More perished throughout June and July as temperatures topped 120 degrees on the trails.

Baird cautioned visitors to stay at least 6 feet away from the edge.
