Take a look at the night sky this Sunday or early Monday morning. NASA says the Perseid meteor shower will be peaking.

This meteor shower is considered one of the best to catch. According to NASA, "the Perseids are best viewed in the Northern Hemisphere during the pre-dawn hours, though at times it is possible to view meteors from this shower as early as 10 p.m."

Tthe Perseids leave long wakes as they streak through the night sky, NASA says. They can also produce what are called fireballs, which are larger explosions of light. Roughly 50 to 100 meteors can be seen each hour.

The Perseids meteor showers come from a debris stream of the comet Swift-Tuttle. The best way to catch this annual event is to leave the bright lights of the city and find a spot with less light pollution.
