In July, Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke and several individuals traveled to Tullamore, Ireland, for a unique art exhibition. Tullamore is Chandler’s sister city.
The art exhibition is called "Ceangal," or “Connections” in Irish, and features the works of various artists and writers from both Tullamore and Chandler. The collaborative display focused on the landscapes and landmarks of the two sister cities.
Writer Lynne Hartke contributed desert poetry. She says the exhibition links people together.
“I think cities and towns all over are looking for ways to connect with their citizens. And art is a wonderful way to connect people from different cultures," she said.
Here’s what she hopes people get out of the exhibit.
“I would want people to take away the fact that there is more that unites us than divides us," she said.
Creating the display involved both Tullamore and Chandler artists communicating with each other via Zoom meetings and email.
The "Ceangal" art exhibition will eventually come to Chandler where it will be on display from March to April 2025 at the Chandler Museum.
