Peoria is following in the footsteps of Surprise and Mesa by surveying residents about retail, restaurant and entertainment preferences.
Before launching the online survey, program manager Susana Trasente said Peoria did its homework, “What we found is that per capita, Peoria is the number one West Valley city in terms of retail sales. We also found out that in terms of restaurant sales, it is comparable to that of Phoenix restaurants sales per capita.”
Peoria’s survey asks residents to share what restaurants and retail options they would support within five miles of their home.
“Whatever our analysis shows, we're gonna share it with the public,” Trasente said. “And then our team, our business attraction team is gonna have the fun project of going to these specific retail restaurant spaces that were requested and letting them know, and hopefully it opens up the door for more conversations.”
The survey on Peoria’s website is open through Sept. 15.
Surprise has surveyed residents on retail, restaurant and entertainment preferences for several years, and Mesa launched a similar survey earlier this year that asked people to rank their top three dining preferences and share what kind of businesses they left Mesa to visit.
