Pima County offers online resources to some people who have warrants out for their arrest. For those who qualify, they can resolve their warrant without getting arrested or going to jail.
Those resources originally come from the county’s Clear My Warrant program. If an individual has a probation violation warrant, going through the program can allow you to get your warrant cleared without going to court or jail.
David Sanders is the chief probation officer for Pima County. He says some people think it’s a trick.
“In our flyers, we urge absconders to contact the public defender who will corroborate that this is a legitimate program. It is what we say it is. It’s not a ruse," Sanders said.
Warrants that involve a failure to appear before a court or not paying court-ordered fines can be settled online at the county’s website. Currently, there are almost 800 active warrants in Pima County.
