After the Mexican Revolution in the early part of the 20th century, leaders from the state of Sonora started rising to prominence in that country. And, those leaders from the northern and western part of Mexico started moving the country in a different direction.

Jürgen Buchenau explores all of this in his book, "The Sonoran Dynasty in Mexico: Revolution, Reform and Repression."

Buchenau, a professor of history and Latin American studies at UNC Charlotte, joined The Show to discuss.
