An Arizona State University professor has been arrested on suspicion of killing his wife.

Police say David Zhu shot his wife in their Scottsdale home on Saturday.

According to ASU’s website, Zhu is a professor in the W.P. Carey School of Business.

Officer Aaron Bolin with Scottsdale police says the couple’s daughter and son were home at the time.

"The family members that were in the house heard the sound of gunshots and that’s how they were alerted to it. The juvenile son left the residence to go get help from a neighbor and the adult daughter stayed in the house," said Bolin.

The couple’s children told police there have been frequent incidents of domestic violence involving their parents for many years, authorities said.
