As Vice President Kamala Harris takes center stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week, allies are touting her platform and policy record.

Republicans have attacked Harris as being lax on border security and immigration.

But Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly, who appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, says immigration reform is a top priority for Harris.

“I mean, Kamala Harris really wants to reform our immigration system. Our immigration system helps support our economy and I expect you know that she will be focused on this after she’s elected president.”

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, arrests for illegal border crossings fell 33% from June to July, dropping from 83,000 to 56,000.
