She made headlines in 2024 when she spoke about her own plans to get an abortion on the floor of the Arizona Senate. She includes increasing access to quality health care and public education for all Arizonans on her list of policy platforms.
Robert Scantlebury

Scantlebury is a retired Mesa police officer who lost to Burch in 2022. He said his priorities include supporting law enforcement and addressing the high cost of living experienced by residents in his district.
He said he also wants to empower parents to make decisions about their children’s education and supports the state’s school voucher program. In 2022, former President Donald Trump endorsed Scantlebury, who has expressed skepticism about the election Trump lost to President Joe Biden.
Scantlebury was named in a 2014 excessive force complaint against Mesa Police Department. He says video evidence shows he was not involved in the incident but supports the actions of his fellow officers that day, according to the Arizona Republic.
