Party: Republican

Bolick is a state lawmaker who was first elected in 2018. She ran unsuccessfully for secretary of state in 2022 and was appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in 2023 to replace former Sen. Steve Kaiser.

She is now running against Rep. Judy Schweibert to keep the Senate seat. When President Joe Biden beat former President Donald Trump in 2020, Bolick signed onto a resolution to grant Arizona’s electoral college votes to Trump. She also sponsored a bill that would have given the state Legislature the authority to reject presidential election results, overriding voters. T

This year, Bolick was one of two state Senate Republicans who voted to repeal a territorial-era abortion ban.

Schwiebert, a retired high school teacher and current lawmaker in the state House of Representatives, is running for a spot on the state Senate against Republican Shawnna Bolick, who was appointed to the seat in 2023.

Schwiebert is running on a ticket with Democrat Stephanie Simacek, who is running to take her place in the state House. Schwiebert first won election to the Legislature in 2020, unseating Republican Anthony Kern.

In her time at the Capitol, Schwiebert has focused primarily on education issues. She supports increased funding for public education and opposes private school vouchers.
