Construction of the I-10 bridges over the Salt River have been delayed by four months. This pushes the full completion of ADOT’s Broadway Curve Improvement project to early spring 2025.
Construction behind the largest urban freeway project in the agency’s history was expected to be fully completed later this year. But due to flooding from the Salt River in spring 2023, bridge construction over the river was halted.
Marcy McMacken is a spokesperson for ADOT. She says developers were approved for an extension earlier this year.
“Once this project is completed, you’re going to see stretches of I-10 through the Broadway Curve as wide as over 20 lanes, so it’s going to be a huge difference in terms of reducing congestion," McMacken said.
McMacken says that a majority of the project will still be completed by late 2024.
