Thirteen ballot initiatives will be in front of voters on Election Day in November including issues such as abortion rights and the minimum wage for tipped workers.
One measure would change how the public can amend the state constitution and propose laws. If passed, it would require petition circulators to get 15% of the vote from each legislative district in the state.
Proponents say the measure gives rural areas more say on what goes on the ballot. But Democratic state Sen. Priya Sundareshan says all voters get equal say come the election.
"What this actually does is it privileges the voters of a particular district who may decide to withhold their signatures," Sundareshan said.
There are no current requirements on where signatures are gathered in the state.
