Sunday could be the first day with a high temperature under 100 degrees in more than 100 days in metro Phoenix.

Isaac Smith is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Phoenix. He said residents could see below-normal temperatures starting next week, with highs in the lower 90s.

“We’re gonna be looking at more of a potent system coming through, bringing us better rain chances," Smith said. "That certainly helps us push those temperatures down below 100."

Smith said the Valley could see about a 20% chance of showers on Saturday night, increasing to about 40% on Sunday.

Monday’s high is expected to be around 96 degrees.
