While the central deserts are still experiencing excessive heat, snow has already fallen on the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff.

The Arizona Snowbowl will be open daily starting Monday, offering scenic gondola rides of the fall colors. Those usually peak between the first and second weeks of October.

The ski resort’s Angie Grubb said they’re already seeing signs of the changing seasons.

“We did receive some snowfall up here at Snowbowl on Sept. 21, so that was super exciting," Grubb said. "It’s funny, the last day of summer brought us snowfall, and now we’re just right into fall color.”

She said ski season is scheduled to start Nov. 22.

“Of course that is weather dependent," Grubb said, "but you know, we’ve already got some snowfall up here and temperatures are continuing to drop by the day and so I’m pretty hopeful that we’ll be open by mid November.”

The resort’s summer activities will still be offered through the fall.
