The city of Chandler is partnering with Arizona State University to put on a series of workforce development workshops. It’s part of an initiative to make Chandler residents and ASU students more adaptable, competitive applicants for jobs.
Micah Miranda is Chandler’s economic development director. He said the series is designed to help participants build their “soft skills.”
“So cultural competency, digital literacy — what does that mean in practice and how do those skill sets translate into the actual work environment," he said. "The goal is to help provide additional skillsets to allow our students and current employees within the workforce to thrive."
Miranda said they want to train workers to excel in sectors that form the backbone of Chandler’s economy, like advanced manufacturing, healthcare and information technology.
The free series will be hosted at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center, at 249 E. Chicago St., in Chandler. They are:
- Cultural Proficiency in Professional Environments, Wednesday, Oct. 16
- Social Media for Business, Wednesday, Nov. 6
- Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace and Classroom, Wednesday, Nov. 13
