APS crews who were dispatched to Florida following the devastation of hurricanes Helene and Milton are on their way home.

The crews helped in Daytona to string up new power lines, clear debris, and get the grid back up and running.

Ann Porter with APS said that volunteers worked in heat, high humidity and flooded conditions, but that fortunately they weren’t alone - crews from other states pitched in to share the load.

“Our crews were prepared to be out in Florida helping for up to a month,” she said, “and the fact that they were able to work for three days alongside all of these other amazing crews really speaks to the incredible efforts that these crews made in such a short period of time.”

Porter also said the volunteers were overwhelmed by the gratitude from Florida residents.

The crews are expected to arrive home on Saturday.
