Northern Arizona is expecting its first snows of the season this weekend as strong winds push a cold front over the high country.
The first winter weather advisory has arrived and it’s not even winter yet. The National Weather Service anticipates snow into early Friday at elevations above 7,500 feet. And not merely a dusting.
Meteorologist Evan LaGuardia says to expect 4 to 8 inches.
"But then, we are forecasting snowfall accumulation pretty much up to an inch or two down to the Flagstaff area," LaGuardia said.
The front is bringing cold temperatures to the region and freezing is expected Friday and Saturday.
"We’re going from 10, 15 degrees above average to 15 to 20 below average in a week," LaGuardia said.
A high winds caution is also in place for parts of northern Arizona.
