It’s been a record-hot October.
That has to have all the trick-or-treaters wondering: What will be the high temperature in Phoenix on Halloween?
It’s hard to say a couple weeks out, but the National Weather Service has collected data for Oct. 31 dating all the way back to 1896. That can give us an idea — and answer some other interesting questions.
The average high is typically around 83 degrees and the low around 60, according to data from 1991-2020.
What’s the hottest Halloween ever recorded in Phoenix? It was 96 degrees in 1988.
The coolest high? That would be 59 degrees in 1972.
And did you know in 1900, the temperature plunged all the way down to a record-low 36 degrees?

This Halloween week, it might finaly be sweater weather.
Matt Salerno with the National Weather Service in Phoenixs says highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s — with a chance of rain early in the week.
"So for this time of year our normal high temperatures are actually in the middle 80s in late October," Salerno said Friday.
Phoenix Halloween week forecast
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon. At night, 30% chance of showers after 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. West southwest wind around 5 mph.
Tuesday: A 20% chance of showers before 11 a.m. Sunny, with a high near 74. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. At night, mostly clear, with a low around 53. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 77. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 5 mph. At night, mostly clear, with a low around 54. Calm wind.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 79. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm. At night, clear, with a low around 53. Calm wind.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 5 mph.
