The sun hits a saguaro cactus on South Mountain in February 2023.

Last week in Arizona brought what many felt to be the first true fall temperatures to the Valley: out of the 100 degree realm. Northern Arizona even got its first snow of the season.

But meteorologist Evan LaGuardia with the National Weather Service said Arizona's high country is returning to unseasonably high temperatures this week.

“Phoenix is looking at about 96, so, blech!" LaGuardia said, adding the change will persist through at least the end of the week.

The forecast has high country temperatures in the 70s, and LaGuardia said most of the snow from last week has melted already - though there's still some on the San Francisco Peaks.

He said there's no rain or snow forecast in the coming week, but there's a hint that next week "may be a little cooler and windier."
