Despite the weather cooling down, rattlesnake bites are not. Dr. Meghan Spyres with Banner says rattlesnakes are still a concern for the Valley.

She said they’ve seen quite a few snake bites in August and September at the Banner poison center. That number is now growing in October. Spyres says October is still warm enough for snake bites.

"Even in October we think of that as you know as cooler months. It’s still certainly warm enough for us to have a lot of snake bites," Spyres said. "We see, you know, fewer bites in the months of maybe December, January, February."

Spyres said if you are bit, do not put anything tight on the area, do not put ice, and do not try to get the venom out. She said you should seek medical attention instead.
