A former Drug Enforcement Administration employee in Phoenix pled guilty to embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from a reserve intended for operational expenses in the field.
After more than 15 years as a mission support specialist with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Scott Knox now faces almost as much time in prison.
Department of Justice investigators say that as part of his job managing cash reserves used for field operations, Knox had access to the vault where it was stored. And while he took actions to cover up his stealing, the theft of roughly $75,000 came to light during an internal audit earlier this year.
A judge is scheduled to sentence the 47-year-old Avondale resident in January.
