The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors recently approved nearly $1 million towards a program that helps county residents spay and neuter their pets.

The Fix. Adopt. Save. program makes such services more affordable.

Last year, a county allocation of $1 million to the community program helped to facilitate roughly 5,000 spay and neuter surgeries, 7,500 vaccinations and more than 200 microchips.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers said the latest funds would help to address overpopulation issues.

Project manager Sonia Hernandez says shelters and rescues across the Valley remain above capacity, highlighting the need for further animal support.

The latest round of county funds for the program will be available in March 2025.
