All Arizona highways will remain open over Thanksgiving weekend, but ADOT has some travel tips

ADOT says there will be no highway closures over Thanksgiving weekend. Officials said the department and its contractors will not schedule any full construction or maintenance on state highways.

ADOT still recommended to travelers that they leave early to prepare for unscheduled closures or lane restrictions from crashes and disabled vehicles.

Busier highways will include I-17 and State Route 87 north of Phoenix, as well as areas of I-10 between the Tucson or Phoenix metro. In the case of inclement weather, ADOT said it’s a good idea to pack an emergency kit in the face of car troubles or unscheduled stops in traffic.

Fifteen people were killed over last year’s Thanksgiving weekend across 14 fatal crashes on Arizona roads.

Real-time highway conditions are available at az511.gov.
