The Arizona Department of Transportation recently announced the creation of an Executive Leadership Team to study high speed rail between Phoenix and Tucson.
Members include the Governor’s Office, ADOT and metropolitan planning organizations for various counties.
In a statement from ADOT, officials said the collaboration between various parties builds on Governor Katie Hobbs efforts to advance transportation in the state.
Hobbs said investment in passenger rail between the two metro areas “holds enormous promise for economic growth and employment."
The proposed 160-mile passenger rail corridor would make an estimated three trips per day between stops in Tucson and Buckeye.
