The town of Gilbert's Water Tower Plaza will reopen Monday following renovations.
The reopening takes place after a year of construction.
The reopening will also coincide with the annual holiday lighting event. Mayor Brigette Peterson says the tower “serves as both a metaphorical heart of Gilbert as well as a physical one.”
“Water Tower Plaza serves as both a metaphorical heart of Gilbert as well as a physical one with its constant use and the joy and pride it brings to residents,” said Gilbert’s Mayor, Brigette Peterson. “We are thrilled to reopen this cherished area with modern upgrades that make this treasured spot an even more enjoyable gathering space for our community.”
The enhancements of the renovated water tower range from a shaded picnic area to updated landscaping.
During the reopening, people will be able to participate in activities, including holiday crafts and skating on a synthetic ice rink.
The lighting of the tower is set to take place at 7 p.m. on Monday night with nightly illuminations until Jan. 6.
