The Salvation Army reports it has seen a significant drop in donations to its famous red kettles this holiday season.
With only about a week left in the bell-ringing campaign, the organization is not even halfway to its fundraising goal in the Phoenix area, said spokesperson Scott Johnson.
“Red Kettle Donations stay in the local community and they help fund social services and programs for the entire year, not just during the holiday season, so any help we can get is appreciated,” Johnson said.
Johnson said inflation has cut into charitable giving nationwide and said a late Black Friday meant a shorter campaign this year.
