Starting in early January, residents in the West Valley will want to avoid the Arizona and Grand Canals.
SRP’s annual canal dry-up will run Jan. 8 through Feb. 7 on portions of the Arizona and Grand canals in central and west Phoenix and Glendale.
Signage will be posted on the Arizona Canal from 59th to 75th avenues. The canal banks will be closed to all traffic including bikes and pedestrians. The closures will also impact both sides of the Grand Canal from 24th Street to 27th Avenue.
Some of SRP’s northside irrigation customers will not receive water during this time. The dry-up allows crews to perform maintenance and construction work.
