When going to pump their cars, drivers may observe an uptick in gas prices. Julian Paredes, spokesperson for AAA in Arizona, says the increase likely stems from winter storms hammering the eastern United States.

“Gas prices typically drop during early January but it’s definitely possible that all this severe weather we’ve been seeing has had an impact on transportation or production," he said.

According to AAA, Gila and Yavapai counties have the most expensive gas prices at an average of $3.18 per gallon. La Paz County currently maintains the cheapest gas at $2.92 per gallon.
